Obama claims victory in push of rollout (FC)

Heath care has long been subsidized for those without insurance. Emergency room care for those without insurance the most expensive way to provide care with the worst outcomes is largely paid by government, with minor contributions from charity and asset stripping from those who have assets and garnishing those with wages.

Visiting a Doctor to address long-term heath problems such as asthma, high blood pressure,  and diabetes should significantly lower emergency room visits, saving government money. And much more importantly improving the lives of those newly covered.

The subsidies are strongly means tested. You can get a subsidy only if you have very little income. Otherwise, ACA is an insurance program.

Time will show how many enroll, pay, were previously insured. Time will tell how much managed medical conditions reduce emergency room visits. Time will also tell how many gratuitous deaths are caused in those states that have done all in their power to make ACA fail compared to those that have worked to save lives and improve medical outcomes.

Time will also tell if the US, spending about twice the money per person as any other nation but in 53rd place (or thereabout) in medical outcomes can do better. (WhiteHouse.gov) The rest of the world has already shown that this can be done for fewer dollars with better results. Let's use ACA to improve lives, and reduce health care spending.

  1. I agree with you, healthcare should be more about helping people. It shouldn't just be about the money and how much certain programs will cost.

  2. Highly agree, American Citizens first then profit. That's what will help keep Americans healthier and insured.

  3. How much of our healthcare costs are devoted to research though?

  4. All we can do is wait and see. You've made good points to where I am able to relate to my daily life. We in the household get routine checkups with our doctors so that we limit those visits. Even though we are insured, its better not to spend time in the emergency room. All in all I hope to see ACA pull through and save the US some money with greater results. As well ACA should not let those states who attempted to pull them down stop them. Always strive for success!

  5. I can relate to your point my guy! we all deserve health benefits and the government should be able to ensure all its citizens for the benefit of maintaining a healthy society. ACA seems like a great idea, and the only thing we can do now is wait on the theory that better things will come if all are insured no matter their income level.
